VAPE TRACKING BASICS
What Is a Vape Session? A Simple Way to Track Vaping
A vape session is one short period in which you use your vape. In Quit Vaping Gradually, that can be a quick use or a window of up to 10 minutes. You can finish sooner whenever you want; ten minutes is the upper limit, not a target you need to reach.
The term is a practical tracking unit used by the app. It gives each separate moment of use a clear beginning and end, so you can record your day consistently and compare it over time.
A simple working definition
A session begins when you choose to use your vape. It ends when you stop and put the device away, or when the 10-minute window finishes. If you return to the device later, that is a new session.
Sessions do not need to last the same amount of time. One may be brief and another may last longer. The important part is that each session represents one distinct moment of use.
How to decide when one session ends
Keep the rule simple:
- a session begins when you start using your vape;
- it can last from a quick use up to 10 minutes;
- you can end it as soon as you are done;
- using the device again later creates a new session.
You do not need to keep using the device throughout the whole window. The app gives you enough time for a normal session and lets you end it early.
Why a clear session boundary helps
Vaping can blend into the day and make separate moments of use difficult to remember. A session creates a boundary around each of those moments. Instead of trying to reconstruct the day later, you can see how many distinct sessions happened and when they occurred.
Using the same definition also makes the record easier to compare. You can look at one day, one week or one phase and know that every entry was created using the same basic rule.
What a session log can contain
A minimal entry needs only the session and its time. If you want more context, the app can also help you see:
- when the session started;
- whether it happened at the planned time or earlier;
- how many sessions remain in the day’s target;
- the waiting time until the next planned session;
- your session history for the day.
The goal is to keep the record useful without turning every entry into a long task.
An example of a day recorded in sessions
Imagine a day with sessions at 8:10 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:25 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. The log shows four separate periods of use by mid-afternoon. It does not assume those four sessions lasted the same amount of time. It simply records that the device was used at four distinct moments.
Across several days, the same format lets you compare totals and spacing without relying on memory.
How sessions fit into a gradual plan
Once you have a starting point, sessions can become the unit for a daily target. The plan can place more time between planned sessions and reduce the target gradually. If a session happens earlier than planned, record it too. That keeps the history honest and shows both the schedule and what actually happened.
At the end of a weekly phase, you can review the record and choose whether to advance or repeat the phase.
The program also explicitly tells you not to increase the nicotine strength you use while following it.
Common questions
Do I need to use the full 10 minutes?
No. End the session whenever you are done. The 10-minute window is the maximum available time, not a required duration.
Should every session last the same amount of time?
No. A session records a separate moment of use. Different sessions can have different durations.
What if I use the device again later?
Record a new session. Separating distinct moments is what makes the daily timeline useful.
Can I record an early session?
Yes. If you vape before the planned waiting time ends, you can still log the session so it remains part of the day’s history.
Track sessions with Quit Vaping Gradually
Quit Vaping Gradually organizes vaping into sessions and places them inside a gradual plan. The app shows the daily target, sessions remaining and the waiting time until the next planned session. It also lets you record an early session, review progress and choose whether to advance or repeat a weekly phase.
